About Me

Hello, everyone! My name is Katie Frazier, and I am a Broadcast Meteorologist. I was born and raised in the hot, sunny, and sometimes cold city of Las Vegas, Nevada! We never get much rain there, which is probably why I never considered being a meteorologist early on. In fact, for much of my life, I wanted to be a marine biologist. In the summer before my senior year of high school, I realized there weren't many paying jobs for marine biology. Thus, I panicked to find something else I was passionate about. After some contemplation, I realized I loved looking at clouds and reading the radar. My path into the ever-changing world of weather was born!

Once I decided my fate, I began researching all the meteorology schools in the country. The University of South Alabama had everything I could ask for - from warm weather to being close to the beach, and, of course, a great program. I begged my parents to let me go, and in the fall of 2017, I began studying meteorology. My time at USA was amazing! I learned so much and made the best friends of my life. I even started working with South Alabama's Mesonet Program. I was a normal technician for two years, then was promoted to manager my junior and senior year. My Mesonet memories are something I still reflect on and laugh about today.

In the final two years of my schooling, I began to learn how to present the weather on the green screen. It's ironic I chose the broadcasting field as I was deathly shy all the way through high school. As my time at South came to a close, I began applying to jobs all over the country (but especially in warm climates). After the ups and downs of the job search, I was hired on by the legacy station in El Paso, TX - KVIA/ABC-7. There, I reported and shared the weather forecast with the lovely community of people in the Borderland.

I was there for just over two years before I started my current venture and new business, KFW Studios, as a Freelance Broadcast Meteorologist! I built my own TV studio and collected all the gear to do live broadcasts and documentary work. Today, I am working for a variety of TV stations and have film projects to work on in the future. I'm still living in El Paso, which is a city I've grown to love, and I'm excited to continue my career and grow my business. If you may need a Freelance Meteorologist in a pinch, contact me! I would be more than happy to help out your team in need. For any other inquiries you may have, feel free to reach out via my social media pages or the "Contact Me" tab on this website. I look forward to hearing from you!
